Bio and History
Cold Spring Farm was originally established in 1811 when Captain John Reddington, a reveloutionary war veteran, built his home in Lawyersville. This former dairy farm also was the seasonal home of Minik the eskimo in the late 1800´s
Our family purchased the farm in 1985 and have been growing fresh market vegetables every since. Together with our sons Nate and Jake along with our newest addition, daughter Allison, we provide the community with our own fresh vegetables as well as other agricultural products from local farms. This year we have 20 acres of vegetables just wating to be harvested.
Where to find our products:
Our roadside stand is located on Route 145 in Lawyersville just 2 miles from Main Street, Cobleskill.
We also sell at the Renaissance Market on Union Street Cobleskill Saturday mornings. We hope to see you there!
What´s in Season?
Our roadside stand opens in mid July as soon as our sweet corn is ripe. We specialize in super sweet corn varieties, the sweetest on the market. We also produce a wide variety of other vegetables including vine ripe tomatoes, garlic, cukes, melons and zucchini to name a few. What we don\'t grow we purchase from other local growers to fill out our stand.
Fall is our busiest time of year. Growing pumpkins and fall ornamentals is another one of our passions. From 4 ounces to over 200 pounds we grow them all and have 10 different varieties growing for this fall market. Grouds, winter squash, Indian corn, mums, rye straw and corn stalks are available to complete your fall displays. By the piece or by the ton, wholesale orders are welcome.
Besides vegetables we also grow 40 acres of alfalfa hay and field corn that we sell to local dairy farmers.
