Bio and History

The Bees Knees Café at the Heather Ridge Farm Store offers a fabulous Saturday lunch or Sunday brunch/lunch buffet of farm fresh food, served right on the farm! Sit outside under the umbrellas with panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains or relax inside our 1820s farmhouse. Shop at the store for individual retail cuts of beef, pork, lamb, goat, chicken and award winning honey. Order your Thanksgiving turkeys. Our store also stocks local cheeses, maple syrup, lambskins, yarn, socks, candles, soaps and more.

The store and Bees Knees Café are open Saturday 10am-3pm and Sunday for lunch and brunch 11am-3pm, Memorial Day to Columbus Day weekend. The store is open Friday from 5-7pm with take-out by reservation. Call or check our website for the changing seasonal menu.

We are open on Saturdays winter and spring.

What´s in Season?

We offer retail cuts of pork, beef, lamb, goat, chicken and turkey, all grown here on the farm. Pastured raised eggs are available. We make our own artisan sausages, pates, corned beef, mustard and many other specialty products. Our smoked products are made without nitrates or nitrites. Retail cuts are offered fresh in season and frozen the rest of the year from our farm store, and offered in expertly prepared dishes at our café. Sides of meat also available by reservation.

All our animals and poultry (and bees!) are lovingly raised in small groups on pasture in the fresh air with mountain spring water. All are guarded by diligent llamas. The cattle and lamb are entirely grass fed, and the pigs, chickens and turkeys have all the fresh grass they want as well as being supplemented with a natural grain mix we have custom-made to order. Our animals receive no antibiotics, no hormones, no animal by-products in their feed and there are no chemical fertilizers used on the pastures.

We offer our own award-winning raw honey. As we restore our ancient orchards, we have apple wood to create a delicious smoke for your barbecues. And 'Llama Doo' to fertilize your organic gardens!
